Unlike talk therapy methods which focus on relational and insight-oriented resolution toward change, EMDR therapy is a holistic mind-body approach toward change. While still relationally based, EMDR is more clinician led and an evidence based psychotherapy for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). It also has well-documented literature for treatment of other mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, recent traumatic events, complex childhood trauma, psychiatric disorders and somatic complaints. In addition, it has been shown to be incredibly effective for individuals with ADHD and on the Autism Spectrum.EMDR is based in neuroscience and with an understanding of how adverse experiences are held in the nervous system and body. EMDR is based in a what is called the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model which posits that much of psychopathology is due to incomplete processing of disturbing or adverse life experiences. To address the incomplete process, EMDR works in phases and utilizes a three prong approach of past, present and future. This approach has been shown to alleviate presenting concerns, decrease or elimate distress from disturbing memories, relieve somatic disturbance and improve the view of oneself.

Models of therapy are shifting and not only is committing to weekly therapy sessions not always a viable option, but resesarch is increasingly demonstrating the benefits of extended, shorter term sessions. An EMDR Intensive involves short term treatment in which sessions are scheduled for either an extended period of time and/or several sessions within a short amount of time. For example, what would normally be six (6) 1-hr weekly sessions could instead be addressed as three (3) 2-hr extended, intensive sessions in a single week, or spread across several months.

The best way to reach me is through the contact form on this site. After receiving your request we'll work together to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation. The phone consultation is our opportunity to discuss your current concerns, to assess the ways I can possibly support you, and whether one of the services I offer might be a good fit for you.

Please contact me for rates as they vary depending on the service you are wanting to schedule.
I am in-network with OHP - Healthshare and several commercial plans. I also use a service called Thrizer so I am able to bill any insurance plan as an out-of-network provider. Please contact me so I can provide an estimate of your out-of-pocket costs based on your plan and coverage.
You may also choose to pay for services as a private pay client. There are many benefits to paying for services without the complications of insurance company involvement, including:
There is no sharing of personal and protected information as is required by insurance companies
No session limit
No required mental health diagnosis
You dictate your own priorities and courses of treatment
Your choice of provider is not limited by who insurance will pay for

EMDR Intensive and specialized sessions are scheduled based on your unique treatment plan. We will work collaboratively to create your plan, so that it best supports you with meeting your goals while taking your specific needs into consideration.
Traditional therapy sessions (55 minutes weekly) work best when they are consistent and uninterrupted. We will schedule your weekly session time after your first session, and I will hold that time just for you. To protect that rhythm, I maintain a no-cancellation policy, with a few generous exceptions:
With 24 hours’ notice, you can reschedule.
With less than 24 hours’ notice you will be given the option to reschedule your appointment during the same week If I have an opening.
True emergencies do happen. I will waive your first cancellation fee in the event of an emergency.
If I ever need to cancel, of course, you won’t be charged.
This approach supports flow, depth, and meaningful, lasting change.

I have a lovely office space located centrally in Portland, OR in the Lair Hill Neighborhood.
I also offer walk and talk therapy from my office, and telehealth sessions are offered for clients in WA State, or in circumstances where there is a specific need.

If I am in-network with your insurance I will bill your insurance company directly. For out-of-network insurance, I will activate an account through Thrizer, and your insurance will be billed by them. You can choose to reimbursed immediately or when your insurance pays them.
However, regardless of reimbursement status from your insurance company, you are responsible for your entire co-pay or session fee at the time of service.
When scheduling, you must provide a valid credit card or FSH/HSA card to hold your appointment commitment.
The credit card on file will be automatically charged on the day of your appointment for the amount you owe.
For Intensive EMDR and specialized sessions, fifty percent of the cost of your service is due at the time of booking, and the other fifty percent will be automatically charged to the credit card on file the day of your appointment.
